Maryland-DC QSO Party is TODAY

Today, noon to midnight is The Maryland-DC QSO Party.  It is a single day event this year..  We have two stations running at the club house, and digital operations from the K3HMX residence in Bowie.  So you can compete from home, or come to the club house and give out bonus points to all your contacts.  Rich is bringing food for the participants, and from what I know of his taste in food, its not to be missed.  Meanwhile Jim Wallace (N3ADF) and Keith Miller (AE3D) are operating mobile from a number of Eastern Shore Counties, maybe all of them, including three counties with less than 100 lic

Water Flows, But No Word On Test Results

We held the August 2nd meeting, and I'm pleased to say we have water once again in the club house.  We still have no word on the water quality, and whether it is safe to drink.  So until that changes, don't drink the water.  However the rest room facilities work, and we are able to have regular gatherings in the club house again.  And for anyone who doesn't know we have bottled water in the fridge that is 100% potable, and pretty good tasting too.

This Will Never Happen To Me

Battery Blowup.pngFor those who think "this will never happen to me", think again.  On July 20th, the AARC Generator failed ot start.  This exploded battery was the culprit.  The explosion was most likely caused by rapid overcharging.  We teach how to avoid this in our Technician Classes.  This morning I added this picture to this Fall's lesson plan.

No water at DFRC

As of Friday, June 30th the DFRC has no water. FMD has examined the well and pump system that the DFRC uses, and it appears the pump must be replaced.  To do this a crane is required and it will not be available until the week of July 9th.  Members should be aware that power will be maintained to the site, except during the actual replacement of the pump.

If You Missed Field Day, You Missed It!

Milford "The Machine": as he was called at Field Day has produced a secial Field Day Edition of the Ham Arundel News.  The ink was barely dry when Field Day 2018 went into the history books.  Lets just say it was  a rousing success in so many ways.  Watch this website for pictures and the story of Field Day 2018.

J-Pole Field Day Fund Raiser

On May 27th the Kitbuilding and Troubleshooting Workshop held a special event for the benefit of the AARC 2018 Field Day effort.  13 club members inclusing event hosts Raven (KB3MUV) and Eric Berman (KC3GDV) built 2 meter J-Pole Antennas from Ladder Line.  3 others were unable to attend but purchased J-Pole kits from the club, another was unable to attend due to illness.
