Open House?

I think it would be good to schedule an open house. A social event at the clubhouse one Saturday afternoon when there is not testing.

We should have our committee chairs put together either a hand out or do up a poster board for their committee with their go to participants.

We can have an idea board to collect ideas for club activities.

Respond to the forum if you think this is a good idea so the board members can see if there is interest.

I think an open house would be a good idea. I rarely have time to socialize at our Thursday night meetings after the presentation.

As a new member with a new Icom 7300 transceiver in test, my first thought isn't amateur radio as you might think. Instead, after a long winter, it would be nice if we could schedule the open house on a sunny spring day. So how can you get the members to vote (for or against) several days before a prospective Saturday? Everybody may have different reasons why they would like to attend and if their schedule permits. Members may not use the website regularly, but some may read their email regularly as I do and vote to attend. A reminder email could be sent once the date is set. Text messaging could be used for members who rely on their smart phones.

Sounds like a lot of hassle to set up a meeting? I agree, especially if no one volunteered to send the emails and text messages. Someday we might have automated text messaging voting and scheduling?
