Having broken down and finally gotten a cell phone, I realized it would be a handy thing while I was out hiking to the top of Texas last month. I learned that you can text-message a little request to google and it will return the current and forecast weather in a compact little format (as well as a lot of other things, like tracking down where they moved the post office in Alamagordo)

eg:
send this message to 466453 (that's just google spelled out on a phone keyboard)
weather boston
will return-----v
Weather:
Boston, MA
48F, Cloudy
Wind: NE 4 mph
Hum: 61%
Thu: 37F-51F, Showers
Fri: 30F-48F, Scattered Showers
Sat: 39F-51F, Sunny
Pretty handy I've got to admit, I hear you can actually TALK on these cell phone things to, someday I'll have to learn how to do that... ;)
