Tonight I was able to connect (briefly) to both w3pgc-10 and w3aac-10 packet stations. I didn't stay connected for long, it looks like their systems are able to do my packet, but I collected the 'login' information and will learn some more about the various modes. With the help of some club members, I also tried my hand at installing and configuring AirMail, I think I got it to work with my TNC, but didn't get solid results, likely a minor configuration problem on my end. It sounds like we've got several folks that are in a 'beamwidth' in the same direction from my QTH and kb3LZV (we were doing some simplex and earlier tries to connect) I think we have in our line N3PZP and several others. It may be worth selecting an initial frequency for experiments. I'll go out on a limb and suggest 145.030, I've not heard any traffic on in on the night's that I've left the system up, if people are in the area around Bowie/Crofton/Odenton, this might be a good frequency to play with. I'll be leaving my system up at least for a few days to see what I can hear. If you're up for it, give it a try N3USP on 145.030. I think I've got it also set up for connections at n3usp-1 as the email. It's a Kantronics Packet Communicator 3+ (I'm still learning about these packet things, likely that means more to everyone reading this compared to me)
Glenn Bock N3USP.
Thanks again to the great club, every meeting I get a chance to make it to, I learn something new and useful.
