Dayton - Other things to see and do

There are many interesting things to see and do in Dayton other than the Hamvention. There's a lot of aviation history in the Dayton area. It's worth considering taking and extra day or even two to go sight seeing.

Something definitely worth seeing while you are in Dayton is the Air Force museum.

When you go to the AF museum go in the morning. When you get there the first thing you should do is walk straight through the gift shop and turn left to the concierge desk. Here you can book a free bus ride to see the presidential and experimental planes. They are definitely worth seeing and if you wait till afternoon to book your ride you may not be able to get over there. While you are waiting for your turn to ride over to the presidential plane hangar you can visit some of the rest of the museum. Just keep an eye on your watch so that you don't miss your buss.

The bus takes you to a remote hangar that is divided in two with experimental planes on one side and the presidential planes on the other. You can see Roosevelt's plane with an elevator in the belly, Kennedy's plane, Eisenhower's plane and others.

Don't miss it.

For the trip to the

For the trip to the presidental hanger, you are required to show a photo ID before booking your seat on the bus. The rest of the musuem this is not required.
