MD QSO Party

The torch has been officially passed. My family and I just attended the Antietam Radio Association Banquet this Saturday evening in Waynesboro, PA (Near Hagerstown, MD). It was a nice dinner and good company with a few short speeches and some awards presentations. I said a few words thanking them for their twenty year sponsorship of the MD QSO Party and letting them know that they could count on AARC to preserve the tradition for at least the next ten years.

Our ARRL Section Manager Jim Cross, WI3N, and Asst. Section Manager Al Brown, KZ3AB were also in attendance.

We are now the official sponsor of the MD QSO Party held on the 2nd weekend each August. Bob, AA3RR, will be the 2010 contest chairman. Let's be sure to operate in the contest as well as give Bob the support he will need to help tabulate the logs and scores and mail the awards.

Long live the MD QSO Party!

NEW RADIOS

The club has just acquired two HF radios. A local manufacturer of tuners periodically sells off the radios they use to design tuners and offered us an excellent price. We now own a Kenwood TS-870S and a Kenwood TS-570D both in mint condition. The 870 will become the center-piece of the club station. Both can be used in contests and other club events.

ARES to Support Inauguration Communications - 147.105 ARES Priority 1/20/09

The AARC Davidsonville 147.105 repeater will be made available to ARES all day and night on January 20 to support Inauguration Communications. ARES will assist with bus routing, stand by at some EOC's, hospitals, and man shelters in the event they are needed.

Normal use of the repeater will be allowed whenever ARES is not in a directed net but please keep QSO's short and be prepared to give ARES PRIORITY at any time.
