Coastal Flood Watch - Anne Arundel (Maryland)

NOAA.gov Storm Watch - 1 hour 31 min ago
COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 AM
EST SATURDAY...
...COASTAL FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING
THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BALTIMORE MD/WASHINGTON HAS
ISSUED A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM
MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 AM EST SATURDAY. THE COASTAL FLOOD WATCH IS
NOW IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

EASTERLY WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE TONIGHT CAUSING TIDAL
ANOMALIES TO INCREASE UP TO TWO FEET ABOVE NORMAL. THE INCREASED
TIDAL ANOMALIES WILL COMBINE WITH THE NEW MOON...CAUSING WATER
LEVELS TO APPROACH THRESHOLDS FOR MINOR COASTAL FLOODING NEAR
TIMES OF HIGH TIDE OVERNIGHT.

STRONG EASTERLY WINDS WILL PERSIST THROUGH SATURDAY CAUSING TIDAL
ANOMALIES TO CONTINUE INCREASING. THE INCREASING TIDAL ANOMALIES
COMBINED WITH THE LUNAR CYCLE WILL BRING THE POTENTIAL FOR
MODERATE FLOODING NEAR TIMES OF HIGH TIDE. HIGH WATER LEVELS IN
THE POTOMAC DUE TO HEAVY RAIN WILL ENHANCE THE THREAT FOR COASTAL
FLOODING ACROSS THE UPPER TIDAL POTOMAC RIVER SATURDAY AFTERNOON
AND POSSIBLY INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.

EMERGENCY MANAGERS AND PEOPLE WITH INTEREST ON THE POTOMAC RIVER
AND THE WESTERN SHORE OF THE CHESAPEAKE BAY SHOULD BEGIN TO
PREPARE FOR POTENTIAL COASTAL FLOODING.

HERE ARE THE TIMES OF THE NEXT HIGH TIDES
FOR A FEW LOCATIONS FROM NORTH TO SOUTH...
ON THE CHESAPEAKE BAY...
HAVRE DE GRACE...8:17 PM AND 8:00 AM...
FORT MCHENRY BALTIMORE...4:47 AM... AND 5:39 PM
ANNAPOLIS U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY...3:17 AM AND 4:08 PM...
SOLOMONS ISLAND...12:09 AM AND 1:00 PM...
POINT LOOKOUT...11:19 PM AND 12:10 PM...

NOW ALONG THE POTOMAC RIVER...
ALEXANDRIA...6:23 PM AND 6:46 AM...
INDIAN HEAD...5:51 PM AND 6:14 AM...
GOOSE BAY...2:20 AM AND 2:41 PM...
COLTONS POINT...1:10 AM AND 1:31 PM...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.
